Prenatal Genetic Screening Study
Expectant parents often have concerns about their baby’s health before birth. Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is a screening method to determine the probability that a fetus will be born with certain genetic abnormalities. This testing analyzes small fragments of DNA (cell-free DNA; cfDNA) that circulate in a pregnant woman’s blood. Analyzing cfDNA provides an opportunity for early identification of an individual being at elevated risk for a genetic abnormality without harming the fetus or the pregnant mother.
The purpose of this study is to develop a new noninvasive prenatal test that can detect genetic abnormalities in blood samples. Eligible volunteers are compensated for their time and study participation
